Imperial College: Sir Alexander Fleming Building

The Sir Alexander Fleming building is set in the heart of South Kensington, London. The demolition of a large number of Imperial College's buildings after World War II left a poorly coordinated campus. In response, a plan was drawn up to redevelop and connect the sites together.

The first area to be redeveloped was the Sir Alexander Fleming Building. MAP was brought on board for our experience in the industrial and research sector. Working in partnership with Hoare Lea, we advised on the relocation and improvement of the existing laboratory.

The Sir Alexander Fleming Building was the first area to be redeveloped. MAP advised on the relocation and improvement of the existing laboratory - the new prestigious laboratory would focus on medical research advancements.

We specified DINO-T Laminar Flow Diffusers and AKD Gas Tight Dampers, both critical for research laboratory areas. The DINO -T  delivered the best solution for displacement ventilation with flexibity and high capacity. The gas tight dampers also made it possible to shut off and balance airflow rates - the perfect application where accuracy and reliability are so important.
